Goddess Seshat and Ancient Public History: She Who Presides Over Words, Wisdom, and Historical Records

This is a famous and beautiful carving of Seshat that lives on the back of a giant statue of the pharaoh King Ramses II (on the right side of the photo above). She has also been seen writing his name into the Tree of Life. Seshat was an asset to kings and queens who wanted her to remember them fondly for all of eternity. Thoth is also on the back of the throne, and the deities are facing each other.
