Tools: Amulet, an image of Seshat
The ancient Egyptians were huge fans of amulets and they wore them in life and had them placed with them in death to accompany them to the afterlife, according to E.A. Wallis Budge. They had amulets of Seshat and other goddesses made of different materials, including the highly prized substance known as Faience. It was blue and shiny. Those that still exist today may be faded, and some are missing her star, but it just goes to show that she was honored that way in history. Perhaps these were the prized possession of her scribes.
Purchase an amulet of Seshat from a modern seller. It can be silver or constructed from a small image of Seshat. Select something you love, or you can even make your own. I have a beautiful amulet made for me as a cartouche with the word SCRIBE in Egyptian lettering (information on how to order your own is in the back of the book). When I wear it I feel as if Seshat is gently resting on my throat chakra.
· Ask Seshat to bless your amulet with all you need to discover your voice and write from your heart.
· Keep the amulet on your writing altar when you sleep to be blessed at night.
· Wear this amulet as a devotion to the goddess and as a daily connection of her scribal powers.
· Have a chain that is the right length for keeping it close to your throat chakra or a good length for keeping it close to your heart, if that feels best.
Let this be your sacred jewelry and wear it when you write to immediately invite the goddess Seshat to be with you.
